The Jets’ quarterback conundrum is expected to be solved by next Monday, according to coach Todd Bowles.
Josh McCown, Christian Hackenberg and Bryce Petty are all competing for the starting position, but McCown is expected to earn the top spot. Saturday’s preseason game against the Giants is the last chance to make an impression.
“Odell has an ankle (injury). We’ll see how he responds to treatment,” McAdoo said during a conference call, via ESPN. “Brandon has a shoulder (injury), and again we just have to see how these two guys respond to treatment.”
When pressed on what kind of sprain Beckham has, McAdoo simply responded, “It’s an ankle.”
Beckham sustained the sprain in the second quarter, when he was hit in the leg. He jogged back to the locker room, but knelt to the floor in pain in the hallway.
As for Marshall, McAdoo seemed a little more optimistic and vaguely alluded to a recovery timetable.
“We just had him in here for a treatment session, and we’ll take it day to day,” McAdoo said.
The Bills signed Dareus to one of the most front-loaded contracts in the NFL, with up front money that even surpasses that of Ndamukong Suh’s massive contract in Miami. Since signing the contract, Dareus has notched just 5.5 sacks, has complained about his coach and has been suspended for four games by the league. With millions in dead money still on the books, the Bills need Dareus to show a great deal of improvement this year.
