Steelers coach Mike Tomlin addresses not playing James Harrison

Steelers linebacker James Harrison didn’t take the field last Sunday, despite starter T.J. Watt leaving the game with a groin injury.

Instead, coach Mike Tomlin sent in Anthony Chickillo while Harrison remained on the sideline. So is Harrison falling down the depth chart?

I came out straight. I didn’t have any setbacks or anything like that. So, keep ramping up the rehab, Beckham said, via ESPN. Just try to get as good as you can get, you know what I mean?

Elite Mens Jonathan Cooper Jersey He admitted his ankle might not be 100 percent for the rest of the season, but expects his production to increase now that he is maintaining it.

The ankle is something you get on every single day, Beckham said. So, you never really know, but I’m going to get as good as I can get and I know once I’m comfortable cutting off in each and every way, I don’t see that there will be any problems with it, even if it’s not 100 (percent).

Beckham was limited in Thursday’s practice, which is likely a plan to keep Beckham from straining the ankle too much ahead of Sunday’s game in Philadelphia.

Where’s the dignity in that? Words are powerful man. They can unite you or they can divide you. What he said united us. Norman linked arms with Washington owner Dan Snyder and teammates.

Joe Thomas is probably the 1st NFL player with 10,000 consecutive snaps.

Limited Vic Beasley Jersey
Marlon Humphrey Game Jersey Joe Thomas is the NFL’s ultimate Iron Man, and now he’s reached a milestone no player is believed to have ever crossed. The Cleveland Browns offensive tackle has now played in 10,000 consecutive snaps.

Thomas, 32, played in his 162nd game with the Browns on Sunday. He started Week 1 in his rookie season in 2007 and has never missed a single offensive snap in more than 10 seasons.

Even players in other sports can appreciate how ridiculous that is.

All of our sideline concussion evaluations will occur inside the tents, which we think will not only obviously provide more privacy and dignity for the player, but certainly will eliminate some of the visual and auditory distractions that we want to try to eliminate to get the best concussion evaluation we can, Allen Sills, the NFL’s chief medical officer, told the Washington Post.

We think by having the player and the examining physicians and athletic trainers in the tent, we’ll get a better concussion screening examination done and it’ll improve our ability to diagnose and detect these injuries on the sideline.

Players who meet certain criteria will still be required to go to the locker room for further testing and diagnosis. The use of the tent will not replace the formal evaluations that take place off the field. Instead, it will create a better environment for doctors to determine whether a player can return to the field or will need further monitoring.

We will ask that all sideline concussion exams be done in the tent, but if the initial screening suggests a concussion, then the more extensive concussion evaluation will be done in the locker room just as we have previously done, Sills said.

High school football’s greatest rivalry: Muck City

The towns of Pahokee and Belle Glade are about 17 miles apart. Between them, they have a population of fewer than 30,000. Both have struggled economically with the mechanization of sugar cane farms, by far the largest industry in the area. That cane grows in a rich soil known by the locals as “The Muck.”

There’s something else Belle Glade and Pahokee produce: professional football players. Anquan Boldin, Travis Benjamin, Reidel Anthony, and Pernell McPhee are just a handful of the current and former NFL players who hail from this small part of South Florida, and they know The Muck gave them the foundation they needed to succeed, physically and mentally, at the next level.

That’s partially thanks to the rivalry between the two towns, who face off every year in the Muck Bowl. To the people of Pahokee and Belle Glade, it’s the biggest — and maybe only — game on the calendar each season.

Lions 7, Giants 7: New York spent the final few minutes of the first quarter trekking through the Lions’ defense, then made on the first play of the second quarter with an Eli Manning touchdown pass to Evan Engram. The eight-play, 75-yard drive was all about Manning, who has already spread the ball around to five different receivers for six completions.

Engram did get busted for a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after the touchdown for grabbing his crotch, however. Gotta be careful out there!

Lions 7, Giants 0: Taking advantage of the good field position afforded by a three-and-out on the Giants’ opening drive, the Lions drove down the field and got on the scoreboard with a 27-yard touchdown pass from Matthew Stafford to Marvin Jones.

Odell Beckham Jr. will play against the Lions on ‘Monday Night Football’

The Giants offense was completely outmatched in Week 1 against the Dallas Cowboys, but there’s reason for New York to be optimistic heading into Week 2. Odell Beckham Jr. will be back on the field on Monday night against the Lions, the Giants announced.

Beckham looked ready to go during pregame warmups, but before team confirmed his status for the Monday night matchup against the Detroit Lions, the receiver first told ESPN’s Josina Anderson that he is ready to go.

Some fans were up in arms last week when reports emerged about Beckham having a dance battle with Russell Westbrook despite Beckham’s injured ankle. But Beckham Mike Alstott Womens Jersey increased his practice workload with the Giants on Thursday, and he looked ready to hit the field.

Still, having Beckham back should draw coverage and make it easier for the rest of New York’s receivers to get open. Beckham’s return gives the Giants a better chance of beating the Lions on Monday.

It puts a lot of stress on an offensive line coach to be able to develop players, although in the Patriots case they’re in good hands with Dante Scarnecchia and his attention to detail. Without pads, offensive lineman can’t really develop the proper blocking techniques they need to execute on offense and that leads to bad plays in the game. The Patriots have been able to develop a solid offensive line with the current starting five they have out there. That unit will have their hands full against the Texans, who offer Walter Payton Jersey a trio of game-changers in their Front 7 in Jadeveon Clowney, J.J. Watt, and Whitney Mercilus.

In the Patriots Week 3 game, they’ll be playing a Texans offensive without Duane Brown, who is continuing his holdout. After a poor Week 1 performance that resulted in Tom Savage and Deshaun Watson getting sacked 10 times, the group rebounded for a 168-yard rushing attack against a Bengals team that looked like they stopped caring this year.

Left tackle Ereck Flowers was regularly steamrollered by Ezekiel Ansah, who was responsible for three of Detroit’s five sacks.

I’ll be 100 percent honest; I really wanted to recommend Zach Miller for a third consecutive week in a row, but wanted to provide another option for those who already know why I think Miller is severely undervalued. By all accounts, Austin Seferian-Jenkins looked finally ready to live up to his past hype during training camp for the Jets. He missed the first two games of the season because of league-imposed suspension, but enters this game as an outlet that Josh McCown hasn’t had during the Jets’ first two games. -K.D.

Patrick Robinson Womens Jersey The Giants were an undisciplined, inefficient mess. They recovered a Matthew Stafford fumble in the second quarter and on the very next play handed the ball back to Detroit on a Manning interception. Brandon Marshall dropped a perfectly thrown deep ball down the sideline that helped kill a fourth-quarter possession, and two plays later, the Lions’ Jamal Agnew was taking a punt back 88 yards for a score.

The Giants’ running backs managed a grand total of 62 yards after opening with 35 against Dallas, leaving them one fullback dive short of 100 for the year. Fans booed McAdoo’s decision to run the ball on third-and-13 on the Giants’ opening series and booed again throughout the night. The one time the coach and the crowd were in agreement — on McAdoo’s choice to go for it on fourth down at the 2 — Manning’s apparent preoccupation with a potential blitz pickup rained on the parade as the play clock bled to zero.

Will Sutton Elite Jersey I’ve got to call a timeout or get it snapped, the quarterback said.

At 36 years old and trying to get by without a healthy Beckham, a productive running game and a functioning line, Manning has looked like a shadow of his former self. But until he plays a full season at this level, Manning has earned the benefit of the doubt. He did once win a championship after an 0-2 start, with the same 2007 Giants who were honored at halftime.

Cam Newton leaves game with leg injury vs. Bills, returns without missing a snap

Cam Newton was sacked by the Buffalo Bills in the third quarter and stayed down before limping off the field. The injury was ruled an ankle problem by the team, but Newton returned on the next drive without missing a play.

Newton hobbled off the field to the sideline where he was evaluated in the team’s medical tent. The sack came on third down, so the Bills took over on offense, but Anderson was warming up on the sideline after the sack.

The difference between Russell Wilson’s pass in that Super Bowl, and Derek Carr’s on Sunday, is that Carr’s worked.

It’s not the first funny audible we’ve heard this season. In fact, another was also named after a Super Bowl disaster.

Dak Prescott called an audible named “Shanahan” during the Cowboys’ Sunday Night Football game in Week 1. It was a zone running play, in reference to how former Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan didn’t run the ball enough in Super Bowl LI.

Keep those ears open during the games. You might catch something you didn’t expect.

Nothing really happening in this game. Some poor play by Watson and Dalton, who have been off with their throws most of the night. It’s a classic Thursday Night Football slopfest.

Police, other first-responders to join Browns in on-field show of solidarity

The Browns will be joined by police, firefighters, EMTs and members of the U.S. military in a show of unity before Sunday’s NFL opener against the Steelers, ESPN.com reported.

Players, city officials and team executives confirmed that the first-responders will accompany the Browns as they run onto the field before the game, according to the report, which said a special video will be shown before the national anthem, “aiming to express solidarity with the community and stress the importance of diversity and equality.”

“We absolutely and completely understand,” Shanks told USA TODAY Sports. “It’s not a different reaction than what we had prepared ourselves for internally at Fox Sports. We discuss it. We talk about what happened then. What type of person is Mike is now? What debt has he paid to society? We still believe it’s the right thing to do.”

Fox Sports announced last week that Vick had been hired as a studio analyst for “Fox NFL Kickoff,” the show that leads into “Fox NFL Sunday.”

Vick retired as a Falcon in June, though his tenure in Atlanta infamously ended in 2007 after a felony conviction for facilitating a dog fighting ring resulted in him serving 21 months in federal prison for his involvement.

Vick, who served as a coaching intern with the Chiefs last month, has said he wants to be a coach at the NFL level in the future “but right now isn’t the best timing for it.”

NFL appeals injunction that put Ezekiel Elliott’s suspension on hold

The NFL took the next step in the ongoing Ezekiel Elliott legal battle Monday morning.

Online court documents show the league filed an appeal with the Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals challenging the preliminary injunction that put its disciplinary action against Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott on hold last week.

The league also filed for an emergency stay of the injunction in an Mitchell Trubisky Jersey
effort to speed up a federal appeals process that typically takes months to reach a resolution.

Elliott will be eligible to play for the Cowboys in the meantime, but the NFL and the NFL Players’ Association will continue fighting it out in the courts, as they did with Tom Brady last season, in the interest of establishing precedents for future disciplinary action.

While the financial details were not disclosed, ESPN reports that McManus’ three-year extension is worth $11.254 million and includes $6 million in guaranteed money. His average annual salary of $3.75 million makes him the fourth highest paid kicker in the league.

McManus, who also was voted by his teammates to serve as one of five captains for the 2017 season, shared his enthusiasm about the new deal on Twitter.

McManus, 26, went undrafted in the 2013 NFL Draft but Frank White Womens Jersey landed with the Colts before being waived and picked up by the Giants. He was traded to the Broncos in 2014 to fill in for Matt Prater while he served a four-game suspension and eventually secured Prater’s spot as the starter.

Franchise quarterbacks never hit free agency, so there’s really no way for the market to get set any other way.

But if there was no baseline to build around and contract terms were built from scratch, what would a quarterback worth committing to for the long haul actually be worth?

Likely much more than what they’re getting paid now.

Elite Kids Michael Thomas Jersey The difference between having a Tom Brady at quarterback vs. a Blake Bortles can be the difference between a team that wins a Super Bowl and one that can’t win more than a third of its games.

Elite Kids Braxton Miller Jersey Cleveland will field the league’s youngest starting quarterback this fall after naming Kizer the winner of a quarterback battle that included 2016 sometime-starter Cody Kessler and Texans castaway Osweiler. His big arm has produced some highlight moments, like this touchdown strike to Jordan Payton:

However, the uneven tendencies that dropped him to the second round have also surfaced early in his NFL career. He’s taken five sacks in just 54 dropbacks this preseason, and put together a putrid 6-of-18, 93-yard, one-interception performance in his first start for the team. The good news for Kizer is expectations won’t be high, so he’ll have every opportunity to prove himself as Cleveland rebuilds.

It worked out just the way he wanted.

Hopkins is the Texans’ most important offensive weapon: The one-time Pro Bowler is still in the early stages of his NFL career and already considered one of the best receivers in the league. Hopkins is known for his incredible route-running skills and the ability to corral difficult passes.

In four seasons, the 25-year-old has caught 317 passes for 4,487 yards and 23 touchdowns, all without any stability under center.

Let’s pause a minute so we can watch Nuk make a ridiculous catch: Just one of many examples of Hopkins’ skills, he snagged this one-handed pass that was out in front of him in the Texans’ 20-13 victory over the Detroit Lions last season.

I feel like the work also needs to reflect the people that are there, Williams said.

His goal was to do it near Mercedes-Benz Stadium, but he couldn’t find a property he would have been able to paint on. Regardless, Williams found a place to make it work, and made the West End a little more beautiful, which is one of his purposes.

We should be beautifying our own neighborhoods, he said. We need to do it for ourselves.
